You Thought I Forgot!

I know you were thinking that I forgot all about sharing my newest chore solution. I promised to take pictures and share them with you.
Well, as you can see, I have not forgotten. I have finally taken some photos to show you
what our newest method is like. Unfortunately, it is too late (Hubby sleeping) to take photos of the store, but I doubt you really need photos of that to understand what we're doing.
This photo shows the "holders" if you will. These bright strips of fabric belong to each child. They each chose their own fabric, so they know which list is theirs. The original Choreganizers simply has fold-out card stock. I, of course, had to be more original, and thus add many hours of time onto the project.

The next photo shows how the folders work. The fabric has little pairs of "hardware" sewn on (leftover from stamping kits), and each printed chore card has a small piece of magnetic tape on the back so that it will stick to the hardware. Each holder has five pairs of these little metal pieces. It was a handy use for something I thought I'd never use.

This photo shows what the holders look like once they are filled with chore cards. I love that I have the flexibility to just put up what things I know will need to be done that day, depending on the day's schedule. "You must do these 5 things every day no matter what" just didn't work for us, for many reasons. The kids like this, because now they are rarely asked to do the same thing two days in a row. I like being able to slip in things like "change your bed sheets", which I never could before without complaints - "but that's not my JOB!" Now, if it's on your list, it's your job, and if you complain, you lose your dollar for the day.

As they finish each chore to our satisfaction, they place the corresponding card into the pocket on the bottom. This gives us all a visual of what is done and still needs to be done.

Very creative! Bronwyn needs pants hemmed and I am scared to try...plus Presleigh somehow managed to break the needle on her sewing machine :( So I don't think I will tackle such a cute way to display, but I am thinking now!!!
