Wonderful Weather!

It has been unseasonably warm. My children have been delighted with the sun and temperatures far more reminiscent of our time in FL than here in WI. I have been letting them play outside far more than usual. I know they could be getting more work done if I kept them inside, but I remember how I loved to play outside in autumn as a child - even as a teenager. OK, I admit it; I love to play outside in the leaves even now! I am thrilled that they are getting this opportunity to stay healthy longer into the "cold season". There are no mosquitoes to worry about, only a few bees and the ubiquitous Asian beetles. I want them to have these memories of enjoying beautiful weather, exploring God's creation. Today they discovered quite a few nightcrawlers under the leaves. My oldest carried several of them around with her for a while. She loves worms, and has ever since she was quite small. She tells me she likes the way they feel on her hands. Can you imagine?
It is difficult to remember that it was snowing just last week, and likely could snow again next week. But for now, we are living in the moment, this precious, beautiful moment that we have to enjoy.
Thank you, Lord.
