Nothing broke today. No one fell and got hurt. I didn't forget anything important. No one struggled with homework.
But it rained. For hours. And hours.
This rain greatly disappointed my children, who had been promised a trip to the park "if it doesn't rain". My son was nearly devastated, in fact. Not only could we not go to the park, we could not even rake the leaves in our yard, an activity which is a close second to playing at the park. My sad children!
To brighten things up, our littlest decided she was big enough to sit up for extended periods of time without falling over. Her siblings were thrilled to see her sit up for so very long, and forgot some of their disappointment in cheering her on. Apparently "on a roll", she later figured out how to get her toes in her mouth, and quite cheerfully entertained her siblings by sucking on her big toe.
Their disappointment was diffused, and their sense of pride in family strengthened.
I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings, be it rain or shine.
