Aren't they fun? Don't we all love to start writing in a brand-new notebook, or take a ride in a brand-new car (on brand-new pavement!)? Isn't there something nicely exciting about the start of a new school year or the look and feel of a new pair of sneakers?
I love to start things. Unfortunately, I am much better at starting things than I am at finishing them. My good intentions often run out of steam, or even get run off the track. And some things, well, they don't work as planned, and have to be scrapped.
I have found that children love routine, but they also enjoy change. I have to keep a balance to keep a peaceful home. My children like change - if they have time to anticipate it.
Since our method for getting chores done around the house was beginning to get old, boring, and just generally not working the way it had originally, my husband and I were looking for ideas. Well, looking at each other didn't help much, so we resolved to think on it. During this time, I happened to read a blog that normally has nothing useful on it (I read it for laughs while I nurse my baby) and read of a chore method called Choreganizers. This is a book/kit that can be purchased online at places like www.christianbook.com. I was intrigued with the program, especially since the woman recommending it said it had been working well at her house for more than a year. I checked it out, and had my hubby check it out, also, and we decided that we could make our own version. It has taken quite a bit more time than we orignally thought, but we are finally just about ready. My children have been anticipating the change with excitement. I have to admit that I have also been anticiapting the change with excitement, because I know that I will certainly get at least one or two weeks of beautiful cooperation before there is any chance of them losing interest in the program.
Although the last stitch hasn't been sewn, or the last paper money printed, the plan is to make this change starting tomorrow. For my children, this will be almost as fun as having a birthday. For me, well, any mom knows how nice it is to have chores done quickly, happily, and thoroughly!
When the last stitch is sewn, I will post a photo.:-)

I have been so horrible at routine and starting anything with all that's gone on this year, I almost forget that wonderful feeling!! You reminded me I want to get back on track as soon as this mess is taken care of. I have the current $ crisis coming to a close and the finalization of Zoe's adoption within the month, and then I plan on smooth sailing for awhile!!!
I love writing in a new notebook too!! lol
Oh, yes!! Cassidy's hair takes me 10 min as opposed to 3 hours!! I love it!!! Thank you!!
